Campsite Salgueiros

Parque de Campismo de Salgueiros Canidelo Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal GPS = N 41.12111 W 8.66111 While it was our intention to stay at this campsite for several days as it is well positioned for exploring Porto and the surrounding area, after using the Men’s Showers it was found that after running the hot water a rather obnoxious smell rent the air. Further investigation found the area under the perforated plastic shower tray to be filthy dirty. This ‘problem’ was reported to Reception who did absolutely nothing to get it cleaned up over the next 48hours. As a result our stay after 3 nights was terminated as I was not prepared to accept these conditions having found that all the showers were in the same condition. On 11th February 2012 I contacted the Tourist Office to ask them if they would forward my message of the ‘problem’ with photographic evidence to the head of Canidelo Junta de Freguesia, so they sent it with a covering message to the ‘president’ who thanked me in a return message but in spite of repeated requests from the Tourist Office who are concerned about the impact on their tourism, has not rectified the ‘problem’ and provided objective evidence to prove it. I therefore cannot recommend a stay at this campsite as you could possibly encounter health problems after.
